Caroline Denervaud has developed a really interesting
practice that brings together performance, drawing and abstraction. Richard Baker introduced me to her work and I
have spent some time the last few days going through the videos she has on her
web-site. She has managed to hold a very fine line between how the body can be
represented and classic processes of abstraction. She also uses collage to
create biomorphic forms, using a Victor Pasmore like visual language. As an
artist she makes seamless links between the abstract concerns of the mid 50s
and current performative work.
